Drew was raised in the East End of Glasgow in the 1950s and in his early years discovered the guitar and during his mid teens this would become his driving passion. His early unremarkable academic career was followed by a role as a research technician in Genetics at the University of Glasgow. This experience of working in the lab led to him going to university to study molecular biology, which in turn lead him to a successful career in medicine, including senior posts at Southampton, London and Harvard Medical School.

Over time he became recognised as a world expert and key opinion leader in autoimmune haematology.

A prolific writer, Drew has written many books covering medicine, technology such as iPhone, iPad, MacOS, public speaking and presentation skills. Drew has always enjoyed graphic design and is a big collector of modern art.

Drew has been a illustrator for many years and works freelance as a medical illustrator creating graphics for pharmaceutical companies, his peers for their scientific publications, and for his own papers and textbooks.

Drew has now combined his passion for medicine and art to create highly imaginative pop art featuring many common medicines, biological molecules, recreational drugs as well as an array of medical subjects such as ECGs, syringes, etc.

For years, I've been bringing my scientific papers and textbooks to life through my illustrations and designing for colleagues and businesses (Some of my scientific illustration work is here). From modern art collector to pop artist, my work is a fusion of color, design, and the unseen world of chemistry.
